THE American squab pigeon — bred here around 1900 from Runt, Mondain and Homer blood, and the White King has carried the US squab industry ever since (a good pair weans a dozen-plus one-pound squabs a year). THE STRAIN ROW IS REAL: Utility and Show Kings diverged a century ago — same name, different product, the Toulouse Production/Dewlap split in a nest box.
