The peacock of the loft — thirty-plus tail feathers held in a full fan where every other pigeon carries twelve. Centuries old, Indian by origin, and the fancy breed most non-fanciers can name. It flies so reluctantly that racing lofts keep white Fantails as DROPPERS — tossed out to lure racers down out of the sky — which is the one job description this bird has ever held.
