The one pigeon kept partly for its VOICE — a low rolling drum-coo, nothing like the street bird's — wearing a double crest and foot muffs so long they sweep the floor. A top-five American show breed. The muffs are the chore: mud, and a wet spring, are its natural enemies, and pairs often need the feathers trimmed to fill their eggs.
