The most widely kept ornamental pheasant in America — a big white cock finely penciled in black, with a blue-black breast, a red face and a long white tail, over a plain grey-brown hen. Hardy, long-lived and cheap enough to be a first ornamental. THE CATCH: a mature Silver cock is FEARLESS with people and attacks keepers in breeding season — spurs first, and he means it. Carry something between you and him from March to July. The many named races differ mostly in size; treat them as varieties on one clock.
