Pheasants & Partridge Β· breed reference
The βFrenchmanβ of British shooting β the chukar's western cousin (*Alectoris rufa*), barred flanks and coral legs, and the second partridge of the European driven-shoot tradition. Uncommon in US collections but sold. THE PIN, and it's a conservation scandal in Europe rather than a curiosity: RED-LEGGED AND CHUKAR HYBRIDIZE, the young are fertile, and decades of releasing cheap chukar-crossed stock has introgressed chukar genes through wild Iberian and French populations β which is why several European countries now regulate what may be released. Keep the two species in separate pens; pinned from both entries.
