Hazelnut Types
- Hybrid · ~4 years · 5–15 lbs/plant — American × European — blight-resistant and zone-4 hardy; the right pick anywhere east of the Rockies.
- European · ~4 years · 10–20 lbs/plant — C. avellana — the big commercial filbert. Oregon's crop; blight kills it in the east unless the cultivar is resistant.
- American · ~5 years · 3–8 lbs/plant — C. americana — the native: small nuts, total blight immunity, and a first-rate hedgerow plant.
