THE WEEDER GOOSE OF THE AMERICAN SOUTH, and the reason this catalog has a weeder field at all: it was turned into cotton and corn to eat the grass and leave the crop standing, and herbicides put it out of work in the 1950s. AUTO-SEXING — ganders hatch white or near-white, geese grey and saddled, from day one. Still flies a little, forages harder than any other American breed, and takes Deep South heat that flattens an Embden. Critically rare.
