Ducks ยท breed reference

Reginald Appleyard set out in the 1930s to breed 'the ideal duck' โ€” heavy carcass, white skin, and a large white egg in quantity โ€” and this is as close as anyone has come: 200 to 270 eggs off a bird that dresses out at seven pounds. THE ONLY DUCK HERE SOLD IN TWO SIZES: the MINIATURE is a separate bantam bred down from it in the 1980s, a third the weight, same markings โ€” and unlike the standard it can fly. (Appleyard also made the Ixworth chicken, at the same Suffolk farm.)
